The municipality of Alcover has opened the voting period for its 2026 participatory budgets, allowing residents to decide which improvement projects will receive municipal funding.

Starting this Monday, May 4, citizens of Alcover can participate in the ninth edition of the participatory budgets, which allocate 30,000 euros from the municipal budget to community-chosen projects. Voting is conducted through the digital platform 'Decidim', a citizen participation tool that facilitates the online process.
The deadline to cast votes is May 17. All residents registered in Alcover who are over sixteen years old are eligible to participate. Official results will be announced on May 18, and the implementation of the most voted option will begin the following day.
Among the nine finalist proposals, residents can choose projects such as the incorporation of hydraulic bollards to regulate traffic in the old town, the installation of side nets on paddle tennis courts, the improvement of public roads on Plàcid Vidal Avenue, or the lighting of the access road connecting the Mas de Gassol urbanization with the urban center.
Other options include placing recycling machines in the town, building a Pump Track in the Mas de Gassol urbanization, creating natural spaces in Mas de Forès, installing a health park in Cases Noves, and providing lockers for ESO students at the Fonts del Glorieta institute. Most projects are budgeted at 30,000 euros, except for two that are estimated at 20,000 euros.
