The Pati de Valls served as the venue this Tuesday evening for a cultural event that placed the 'porró' at the heart of the Firagost. The activity, held between 7:30 PM and 8:30 PM, aimed to highlight the significance of this piece in Catalan wine culture.
The event featured four commemorative 'porrons' for the Firagost 2026 and coincided with a visit from authorities to the fair. The Minister of Business, Miquel Sàmper, along with other representatives, attended the tasting, concluding their institutional tour.
During the event, Xavier Grasset was named honorary 'porronaire' (honorary pitcher bearer), a symbolic recognition for his contribution to promoting this tradition.
The tasting emphasized the relationship between wine and traditional consumption methods, highlighting the 'porró's role in celebrations and gatherings. The Chamber of Commerce of Valls, El Vi a Punt, and the magazine Cultura i Paisatge a la Ruta del Cister organized the event, with collaboration from the Alt Camp Wine and Cava Market and the Vimbodí Glass Museum.
