The city of Valls experienced an exceptional afternoon on August 12th due to the total solar eclipse. The town became one of the main astronomical observation points, attracting thousands of people who joined the event, both inside and outside the designated area. According to the organization, the total number of participants reached 12,000 people.
One of the main gathering spots was Carrer Blanquers, in the industrial estate, where people from various backgrounds met to enjoy the celestial spectacle. Inside the venue, official sources from the organization indicated that approximately 80% of the attendees were from Valls and Alt Camp. 10% came from other parts of Camp de Tarragona, and the remaining 10% from other areas of Catalonia.
International presence was also notable, with visitors from countries such as France, Bulgaria, Romania, as well as some individuals from the United States and Colombia. These international visitors were mostly located outside the main venue, many well-equipped with chairs, towels, and provisions to experience an astronomical event that will not be repeated in Catalonia for over 100 years.
Those who missed out on tickets chose to watch the eclipse from outside the venue. To liven up the wait, the group Reggae per Xics performed.
The celebration continued after the eclipse with music for all ages, featuring performances by Feina Rai, Destil·lats, and Dj Pep Sánchez. At midnight, a quieter space was set up for observing the Llàgrimes de Sant Llorenç, also known as the Perseids, a meteor shower that coincided with this special night.
