The environmental action, carried out by fifteen volunteers from Platges Netes de Llançà, took place coinciding with the turn of the year to remove the debris that the Christmas easterly storm had dragged onto the coast. The cleanup focused mainly on the beaches of Port, Grifeu, and Cap Ras.
In addition to the collective effort, other members of the association carried out individual cleanups in the Argilera and Sant Jordi areas. The final tally of all actions was 77 kilograms of waste removed from the town's coves and beaches.
The collected debris was highly diverse, including plastics, cans, and other remnants. A significant portion of this waste originated from the runoff of streams and rivers, which dragged materials into the sea due to the intense rainfall generated by the storm.
The easterly storm that affected the Catalan coast lasted three days. One of the most positive consequences of this rain event was the significant rise in water reserves at the Darnius-Boadella reservoir, which reached 85% of its total capacity.
