The Town Council of Castelló d’Empúries has launched a new Gastronomy Classroom at the Toribi Duran Residence, a space aimed at giving specific importance to cuisine within the municipal Training Agenda and strengthening community ties.

The space is located in the kitchen of the Toribi Duran Residence through collaboration with the Fundació Santa Llúcia, which has granted its use to the Council. This agreement will enable the organization of courses, workshops, demonstrations, and other activities related to cooking, healthy eating, and culinary culture, with a clear commitment to continuity and diversity.
The initiative seeks to consolidate a training line focused on gastronomy, fostering the exchange of knowledge and experiences among various audiences. The program will blend practical sessions, traditional cuisine, and creative activities, aiming to highlight local products and traditions.
The Gastronomy Classroom is envisioned not only as a training center but also as a meeting point to generate activity and new connections within the Residence. The project has a strong social, community, and intergenerational character, promoting active aging and interaction between residents and the wider municipality.
This collaboration between the Town Council and the Toribi Duran Residence builds upon an existing relationship that has previously supported other cultural and educational initiatives. The new classroom represents an effort to utilize existing spaces and combine capacities for the community's benefit.
The inaugural program includes activities for young people such as "Joves a la cuina! Receptes de temporada" (Youngsters in the Kitchen! Seasonal Recipes) on November 4th and 11th, led by Tomàs Brull. Workshops like "Cuinar en fred" (Cold Cooking) and "Aperitius de Nadal" (Christmas Appetizers) will also be offered by Quim Serra on November 14th and December 19th, respectively.
