The Museum of Medieval History of the Cúria-Presó, managed by the Department of Historical Heritage of the Town Council of Castelló d'Empúries, has launched an ambitious project to inventory and study its municipal heritage. This collection includes a significant array of stones and movable goods from various eras, with a particular focus on medieval and modern pieces.
Recent tasks have concentrated on cataloguing and documenting the lapidary collection, housed in the municipal archaeological deposit at the Convent of Sant Agustí. This collection comprises objects and stones from diverse origins, many originating from historical buildings and count's palaces of the town.
The work is led by Miquel Àngel Fumanal, a Doctor of Art History, and Andreu Reixach, an architect. This year, a portion of the collection will also be digitized using photogrammetry to create 3D models of the most significant items.
