The Department of Education of the Castelló d'Empúries City Council annually organizes literacy courses for adults. These programs are designed to help participants start or improve their reading and writing skills, as well as enhance their knowledge of the Catalan language.
The courses run from October to June, structured into three levels (Alfa 1, Alfa 2, and Alfa 3) to cater to each student's abilities. This progressive approach aims to foster personal growth, social inclusion, and daily autonomy for the participants.
Upon completion of the course, all participating students receive a certificate of attendance, acknowledging their persistence, involvement, and commitment to their education.

Mayor Anna Massot personally presented the certificates to some of the students during an event held in the City Council's Gothic Hall. Massot emphasized the value of education for integration and citizen participation.
The City Council views the positive reception of these courses year after year favorably and reaffirms its commitment to continue offering educational initiatives that facilitate Catalan language learning and promote social cohesion within the municipality.
