The Bombers de la Generalitat (Catalan Firefighters) responded this morning to a fire reported at a hostel in Roses. The fire alert was received at 00:31 hours via the 112 emergency phone number, indicating that the fire had started on the second floor of the building, which consists of a ground floor and three upper floors.
Upon the arrival of the units, the fire was fully developed in one of the rooms on the second floor. About twenty people had already self-evacuated before the emergency teams arrived, while two individuals remained confined on the third floor of the establishment.
During the extinguishing operations, firefighters conducted a thorough search for potential victims inside the property. Once the fire was controlled and put out, all rooms in the hostel were inspected and ventilated to ensure safety.
After verifying the structural integrity, residents staying on the first and third floors were allowed to return. However, guests on the second floor could not spend the night at the hostel, and the City Council was responsible for managing their relocation.
The Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) (Medical Emergency System) attended to a total of three people. Of these, only one needed to be evacuated to a hospital due to an anxiety attack. Eight units from the Bombers de la Generalitat participated in the operation.
