Representatives of Revolta Pagesa left the Palau de la Generalitat satisfied on Monday after President Salvador Illa endorsed Minister Òscar Ordeig's commitments to the primary sector.

"We leave satisfied because Illa has adopted Ordeig's commitments to the sector as his own."

Jordi Aguilera · Revolta Pagesa Representative
The spokesperson for Revolta Pagesa, Jordi Aguilera, confirmed that the Government (Govern) will establish working groups and direct monitoring to guarantee greater resources for the agricultural sector and minimize the impact of the agreement between the European Union and Mercosur.
The Government's support will materialize in an increase in the budget of the Department of Agriculture and the preparation of a study to equalize the price of hydrocarbons for the primary sector with that paid by the fishing sector. Furthermore, budgetary allocation will be increased to reinforce control of products arriving in Catalonia from outside the EU.

"We have to ensure that the sanitary and quality controls are the same as those here and that citizens can be calm about what they put on their plates at home."

Aguilera expressed confidence that, barring last-minute setbacks, sector assemblies will decide to lift the road closures that are still maintained on the AP-7 in the Alt Empordà and the C-16 in the Berguedà. The next follow-up meeting with Illa and Ordeig is scheduled in about three weeks.
