An 80-year-old man, of French nationality, died this Saturday while diving in the area of S'Encalladora island, in Cadaqués, Cap de Creus. According to emergency teams, the incident occurred around half past three in the afternoon.
The man was participating in a dive with another diver. This individual alerted the crew of a nearby boat when his companion did not return to the surface after submerging. A search operation was immediately launched.
Personnel from Salvament Marítim (Maritime Rescue), the Guardia Civil, the Bombers de la Generalitat (Firefighters of Catalonia), and the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police) were mobilized to locate the missing diver. Finally, his body was found submerged at a depth of approximately three meters around half past five.
Agents from the technical group of the Subaquatic Activities Unit (UAS) of the Guardia Civil have taken charge of the body's recovery.
