The cycle, organized by the Culture Department of Tàrrega, featured several evenings throughout July and August. The final concert, held on Saturday, August 29th, in Riudovelles, showcased the group Els Pescadors de l’Escala, marking the end not only of the habaneras cycle but also of the municipality's entire summer cultural program.
The group from Empordà performed their repertoire of a cappella vocal harmonies and traditional arrangements from the Catalan songbook. The evening included the traditional dinner with 'cóc' during the intermission, a staple of habaneras concerts.
This year's edition stood out for combining different expressions of Catalan culture, decentralizing activities to bring traditional music to various villages within the municipality. The program began on Saturday, July 18th, with a sardana dance in the Plaça del Carme by the Cobla Tàrrega, followed by a second dance on August 22nd.
On Friday, August 7th, the Plaça dels Comediants hosted the duo Ballaveu, who celebrated their tenth anniversary with a dance workshop and the presentation of their album Arada.
Additionally, on Saturday, August 22nd, the Jardins de l’Ateneu hosted another habaneras performance, organized by the Societat Ateneu, featuring the group Peix Fregit.
Through this initiative, the Tàrrega City Council reaffirms its commitment to preserving and disseminating traditional musical heritage, offering free, high-quality cultural events for all audiences as part of the municipality's summer activities.
