The Llançà Local Police located this Monday a vehicle that had been stolen in Vilamalla on December 28, after the driver fled a police checkpoint at the entrance of the municipality.

The incident began on December 29, when Llançà Local Police officers attempted to stop the vehicle during a routine checkpoint. The driver initially slowed down but suddenly accelerated, performing an evasive maneuver to escape.
Officers initiated a pursuit of the car towards the Mines area, near the old feldspar factory. However, the trail was lost due to the poor condition of the roads and the heavy rainfall that had affected the area that week.
The recovery took place this Monday, when the Local Police found the car hidden behind bushes in a difficult-to-access natural area. Once recovered, the vehicle was transferred to the municipal depot.
The case files have been transferred to the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police) in Figueres. The owner, who has been informed of the finding, will soon be able to recover the vehicle and has expressed gratitude for the police work.
