The appointment was formalized during the Governing Council meeting held last Tuesday, September 29th.
Parellada, a graduate in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona and a specialist in Preventive Medicine, Public Health, and Health Administration, brings extensive professional experience in health planning and management. He has undertaken specialized studies at institutions such as ESADE, the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, the University of Barcelona, and Pompeu Fabra University.
For 30 years, his professional career has been linked to the Servei Català de la Salut, where he has been involved in areas such as service procurement, center and territorial planning, evaluation and coordination of health devices, and territorial sector management in the metropolitan area of Barcelona.
In his most recent role, he served as the operational director of the Aliança Hospitalària de la C-17. Parellada also possesses significant teaching experience and has directed master's programs at the University of Barcelona, the Institut de Formació Contínua-IL3, and the Open University of Catalonia, particularly in emergency care and health center planning.
