The tour will recall how in the early 10th century Count Sunyer promoted the creation of a city south of the Llobregat river. The strategic mountain of Sant Miquel, surrounded by cliffs and where a fortification had been built in the Republican Roman era, became the chosen site.
The city grew, and a large suburb outside the walls was created, presided over by the church of Santa Maria and its cemetery, with a neighborhood around it that expanded the great medieval urban network. This area outside the walls is known today as Pla dels Albats.
This guided walk through the exteriors of the walled enclosure will reveal the most popular and unknown urban network of the great medieval civitas of Olèrdola.
