The new facilities at the Sant Hospital Foundation in La Seu d'Urgell, which include Intermediate Care, Day Center, and Assisted Living Residence services, were officially inaugurated this midday. These expansions represent a significant step forward in dignifying care and improving the quality of life for users and their families.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the mayor of La Seu and president of the Foundation, Joan Barrera, and was attended by various authorities, including the Bishop of Urgell, Mns. Josep-Lluís Serrano; the director of the Department of Social Rights and Inclusion in Alt Pirineu i Aran, Eva Jordà; the public health deputy of the Diputació de Lleida, Òscar Martínez; the manager of the Alt Pirineu i Aran Health Region, Felip Benavent, and the manager of the Sant Hospital Foundation, Palmira Borràs.
Joan Barrera highlighted that the inauguration of the second and third floors, dedicated to sociosanitary and intermediate care, and the first 14 residence places, marks a "giant leap" for improved care. He emphasized that the project is the result of collective effort and thanked the financial support from the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Diputació de Lleida, the space cession from the Bishopric, and the dedication of professionals and the trust of families.
The new premises, resulting from a renovation project initiated in 2024, have allowed for the renewal and adaptation of spaces to consolidate a person-centered care model. Warmer, more functional, and safer environments have been created, featuring adapted rooms, new workspaces for professionals, and larger communal areas, aiming to enhance well-being, autonomy, and coexistence.
The Sant Hospital Foundation has expressed gratitude for the collaboration and understanding of professionals, users, and families during the construction work. The project was financed by the Diputació de Lleida, the Department of Social Rights and Inclusion of the Generalitat de Catalunya (with European Next Generation EU funds), and the Foundation's own funds.
