The incident occurred when the cyclist, who was on a mountain route, fell and dislocated his shoulder. The alert was received at 11:45 AM. Initially, a ground team from the fire department of la Seu d'Urgell was dispatched, but the terrain's complexity and the victim's pain made ground evacuation impossible.
Given the situation, a helicopter from the Bombers de la Generalitat (Catalan Fire Department) was mobilized, carrying members of the GRAE (Special Actions Group) and a paramedic from the SEM (Medical Emergency System). The healthcare professional stabilized and immobilized the injured cyclist before rescue teams could safely extract him using the aircraft's winch.
Subsequently, the helicopter transported the injured cyclist to the La Seu d'Urgell Airport, where an SEM ambulance was waiting to take him to a hospital.
