Heavy rains this Thursday afternoon have caused a significant landslide of mud, water, and stones on the Valls del Valira road, the N-145. The incident occurred approximately three kilometers from the border with Andorra, heading towards La Seu d'Urgell.
The force of the water caused a torrent to flow down the mountainside, carrying sediment and rocks that have covered the roadway and interrupted traffic.
Patrols from the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police) have been dispatched to the scene to manage traffic while cleanup operations are underway to remove the accumulated material.
As a result of the landslide, significant traffic jams have formed on this stretch of the road, which is frequently used by drivers traveling between Andorra and La Seu d'Urgell.
This incident occurs amidst intense storms that have also affected Andorra, similar to those experienced in much of Catalonia.
