The Calaf Council approved on Monday the tender for the structural rehabilitation of Cal Martorell, a key step to ensure its stability and move towards its future habitability.

The September plenary session in Calaf gave the green light to the contracting process for the structural and functional rehabilitation of the ground floor of Cal Martorell. The proposal passed with 5 votes in favor and 4 abstentions, marking a new advance in the recovery of this municipal building.
During the debate, the opposition raised concerns about the architectural integration of future interventions and the project's financing, especially if not all requested subsidies are obtained. The Urban Planning Councilor, Jordi Biosca, explained that the first phase has a subsidy of 275,000 euros from the Barcelona Provincial Council and 108,000 euros from the SUD-2 aprovechamiento. He assured that, if other aid is not received, the structural rehabilitation would be carried out initially to ensure residents' safety and remove the building from its ruinous state.
Biosca emphasized that subsequent phases are planned with the building's future use in mind, including the possibility of housing. The City Council has applied for additional cultural grants and has considered the Neighborhood Plan for future development.
The Council also approved, with 7 votes in favor and 2 abstentions, the Internal Gender Equality Plan of the Calaf City Council for the 2026-2030 period. This plan, which includes internal actions, training, and indicator monitoring, will be published on the Transparency Portal.
Other agreements include a credit modification for investments in the Local Court, the Teachers' Houses, and the municipal truck, among others. Furthermore, the management commission to the Barcelona Provincial Council for the self-management of payroll and municipal staff administration was approved, as the council now exceeds the threshold of 50 employees.
