On Monday night, the city of Caracas was the scene of gunfire and detonations near the Miraflores Palace, hours after Donald Trump confirmed the capture of Nicolás Maduro and the power transition.

US President Donald Trump told NBC that the capture of Nicolás Maduro did not involve the collaboration of Delcy Rodríguez, who assumed the role of “acting president” of Venezuela. The Republican magnate ruled out immediate elections, stating that “we have to fix the country first,” and warned that the United States might intervene again if Rodríguez ceased to cooperate.
Coordination of the transition has been entrusted to Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. Minutes after these statements, bursts of gunfire and detonations were heard near the Miraflores Palace, which Rodríguez now occupies.

"It sounded like detonations, they were very continuous. I only saw some lights. It lasted approximately one minute."

The headquarters of the main ministries were evacuated as a security measure. Despite the seriousness of the incidents, provisional authorities have not issued any official information regarding the origin or causes of the gunfire, which has fueled a wave of rumors and speculation.
