The campaign, named “Let's do it right. Every waste in its place”, is being launched this October with the aim of raising citizen awareness about abandonment and proper waste separation, incivilities that have been repeated in recent months.
Planned actions include meetings with neighborhood associations to provide information and gather suggestions, informative publications through the City Council's communication channels, and random inspections to detect and penalize uncivil behavior. A participatory survey, both in person and online, will also be conducted on the use of containers and associated problems.
This initiative addresses issues detected in various areas of Piera, such as mass abandonment of bulky waste and dumping outside containers, which cause significant environmental impact and increased collection costs. Poor recycling can lead to containers being rejected at sorting plants, incurring disposal fees that affect the waste tax.
Furthermore, uncontrolled dumping attracts wildlife, which can spread waste and create dirt and odors. The City Council encourages citizens and neighborhood associations to participate and propose initiatives to improve the situation, reminding everyone that keeping the town clean is a collective task and a matter of civic duty.
