The Pompièrs d'Aran rescued an off-piste skier in cardiorespiratory arrest after he was trapped by an avalanche in Baqueira-Beret on Sunday afternoon, January 18.

The incident was reported by a mountain guide. When emergency teams arrived at the scene, they located the man and immediately transferred him to the Hospital de Vielha, where he was admitted in critical condition.
The search for a possible second trapped skier has been suspended until Monday morning. This hypothesis is based on the fact that rescue teams found another pair of skis in the same avalanche area.
The Pompièrs and the Mossos d'Esquadra Mountain Unit are working to confirm whether the found skier was alone or accompanied at the time of the accident.
Authorities warn that the avalanche danger remains high in the area due to significant snowfall recorded in recent weeks. For Monday, the snow line is expected to be between 1,400 and 1,600 meters.
