L’Energètica, the public energy company of the Generalitat de Catalunya, has commissioned six collective self-consumption systems in central Catalunya, including Artés, Manresa, Sant Fruitós del Bages, Santpedor, Bagà, and Moià. These initiatives, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Programme of Catalunya 2021-2027, allow for the sharing of green energy generated on public rooftops with other nearby Generalitat facilities.
In Artés, the solar panels have been installed on the rooftop of the Institut Miquel Bosch i Jover and are estimated to generate approximately 148,750 kWh annually. Thanks to the collective self-consumption model, energy not consumed by the institute is sent to the Artés Primary Care Center (CAP) without tolls or charges. The institute utilizes 57% of the generated energy, with the remainder transferred to the CAP.
These installations are part of the progressive rollout of collective self-consumption systems that L’Energètica is implementing throughout Catalunya. The system helps save costs and reduce losses by coordinating buildings with surplus energy, such as institutes, with those that have a deficit, like Primary Care Centers.
L’Energètica's mission is to multiply renewable energy generation to supply the public services of the Catalan administration. With a target for 2040, the company aims to manage a generation capacity of at least 1,000 MW, ensuring clean, local, and stable-priced energy for citizens through its public services.
