The Castellnou de Bages City Council has assessed the municipality's selective waste collection, highlighting increased recycling rates since the implementation of closed containers, despite ongoing issues with improper waste and uncivil behavior.

As part of the 'Separate, Open, Close' campaign, the council reports an increase in selective collection and waste entering fixed and mobile collection points. However, improper waste continues to be found in the organic fraction, and some container areas suffer from incivility and vandalism.
To improve the situation, the City Council urges residents to open the residual waste containers with their identification card without forcing them, to place bags inside containers, and to avoid leaving them outside. It also reminds citizens not to put items like diapers, ashes, cat litter, or coffee capsules in the organic bins to facilitate composting, and to refrain from leaving bulky waste (sofas, furniture, appliances) next to container areas. Proper use of the closed container system can help avoid rate penalties.
To control infractions, containers are being reinforced for greater resistance and security. Periodic inspections of improperly disposed bags are conducted to identify offenders, and large waste producers are monitored.
