The Tren del Ciment and the Tren dels Llacs, managed by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), have concluded their season with a total of 35,890 passengers, consolidating a 35% increase over the past three years and reaffirming themselves as a key tourist attraction.

The Tren del Ciment, maintaining the 49% increase recorded in 2024 with 29,190 passengers, operated every Saturday and Sunday from March 28th to November 1st, in addition to special dates like Easter Week, June 24th, and September 11th. This historic railway, over 100 years old, formerly connected the Asland cement factory in Castellar de n’Hug with Guardiola de Berguedà and allows visits to the Historic Trains Exhibition, the Gardens designed by Antoni Gaudí, and the Cement Museum.
Meanwhile, the Tren dels Llacs has continued its strong performance from recent years, with 6,700 passengers. This special train runs from Lleida to Pobla de Segur, traversing unique natural landscapes with 4 lakes, 40 tunnels, and 75 bridges. Passengers can enjoy the journey on the Historic Train or the Panoramic Train, known for its large windows.
As of November, FGC's tourist trains have surpassed one million passengers for the annual total. The Montserrat rack railway, the Núria rack railway (with 236,527 visitors), and the Sant Joan funicular (with 294,353 visitors) operate 365 days a year and have already matched their total 2025 passenger figures.
This year, Ferrocarrils launched the Passaport Turistren (Tourist Train Passport), an initiative that has enabled over 1,500 users to receive discounts of up to 20% on other tourist transport services managed by the company, thereby encouraging the discovery of Catalonia's natural and railway heritage.
