Renfe will make an investment of 163.7 million euros until 2030 to modernize and expand the capacity of its Rodalies maintenance workshops, an action not undertaken for nearly five decades.

This significant capital injection will enable the creation of three new facilities strategically located in Manresa, Sant Celoni, and Granollers. Additionally, a substantial expansion of capacity is planned for the existing workshops in Vilanova i la Geltrú, Sant Andreu Comtal-Barcelona, and Ripoll.
The primary goal of this renovation is to increase productivity, moving from the current capacity of repairing 22 wagons simultaneously to a total of 51. This substantial improvement will optimize maintenance times and the availability of the train fleet.
Furthermore, the new Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat trains, set to begin operations on the Manresa line by the end of the year, will have their own maintenance workshop in Pla de la Vilanoveta in Lleida, thus ensuring adequate service for this new fleet.
