The political week has been dominated by the railway tragedy in Adamuz (Córdoba) and persistent problems in Rodalies in Catalonia, situations the PP has tried to capitalize on. The Government, operating with the 2023 Budgets extended, urgently needs parliamentary arithmetic to govern stably.
The PP attempted to turn the mass held in Huelva for the accident victims into a confrontation with the Government, criticizing Pedro Sánchez's absence. However, solemnity prevailed thanks to the line set by the Andalusian President, Juanma Moreno, who resisted the confrontation strategy of Génova and Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
“"The system has failed. In the AVE and in Rodalies (...) This is serious. You must resign."
Negotiation with Junts is crucial, as the post-convergent party remains Sánchez's most demanding partner for the Budget's approval. Simultaneously, Sánchez has made concessions to other allies like Bildu, ERC (funding), and the PNB (transfers), seeking to appease the majority to reach 2027.
“"Whoever governs without Budgets and without a parliamentary majority is hijacking the nation."
Meanwhile, the PP faces the difficulty of reaching agreements with Vox in several autonomous regions, a fact that weakens Alberto Núñez Feijóo's image ahead of the next general elections. The popular leader admitted there is a 'tailwind' favoring the far-right, referencing figures like Donald Trump.
