The new Passatge del Casino is located on the side of the Teatre Casal Cultural and connects this venue with the carretera de Vic and carrer Sant Benet. This passage was created following recent demolition works. The Associació Casino Societat Coral i Familiar ceded the stretch to the City Council about a year ago. The naming recognizes the entity's historical and cultural role in the municipality.
The second approved designation is for the Carreró de Cal Samutxín, which connects carrer Padró with the carretera de Vic, near the old house of Cal Ballús. This name revives a traditional popular designation, rooted in the municipality's oral history.
According to oral tradition, the nickname Cal Samutxín originates in the 19th century, during the Carlist Wars. The story tells that an ancestor of the family, upon returning from the war, brought back expressions or a way of speaking linked to his posting, which eventually gave rise to the nickname. Over time, it became the name of the bicycle and motorcycle repair workshop, currently run by the family that owns the shoe shop on the road.
The incorporation of these names gives identity to the new spaces and, at the same time, helps preserve and transmit elements of the history and popular culture of Sant Fruitós de Bages.
