The municipality of Sant Fruitós de Bages has successfully revalidated the three Honorary Flowers it has held since 2019. This recognition was announced during the 15th edition of the Honorary Flowers Gala of the Viles Florides competition, which took place this year in the city of Reus.
In this edition, a total of 177 municipalities were distinguished with one, two, three, four, or five Honorary Flowers, based on the evaluation by the competition's jury. The mayor of Sant Fruitós de Bages, Joan Carles Batanés, and the Head of Gardening for the City Council, Albert Avellaneda, attended the event to receive the award.
The revalidation of these three flowers highlights the consolidated trajectory of Sant Fruitós de Bages in the management, conservation, and promotion of its green spaces. Furthermore, it underscores the municipal commitment to a more sustainable model of municipality integrated with its natural environment.
The event brought together approximately 300 people, including institutional representatives, professionals from the gardening and landscaping sector from Catalonia and Andorra. The gala was held at the Conservatori de Música de Reus and was presided over by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food, Òscar Ordeig, and the mayor of Reus, Sandra Guaita.
The Viles Florides movement, promoted by the Confederació d’Horticultura Ornamental de Catalunya (CHOC), aims to value and foster the transformation of municipalities through the improvement of green spaces, gardening, and urban landscaping.
