Cambrils is preparing to host the first edition of the International Food Tourism Conference (IFOODTC) on November 10-11. The congress will bring together food tourism professionals, travel agencies, and international tour operators to promote the Costa Daurada.

The city of Cambrils is finalizing preparations to host the inaugural edition of the International Food Tourism Conference (IFOODTC), an event scheduled for November 10-11. The congress will convene food tourism professionals, travel agencies, tour operators, specialized journalists, and representatives from tourist destinations worldwide.
The event aims to enhance Cambrils' international profile as a leading gastronomic destination and showcase the culinary richness of the entire Costa Daurada. Organized by Wine Events Worldwide, the creators of the International Wine Tourism Conference, this new congress marks a dedicated focus on food tourism.
Confirmed attendees include specialized travel agents and tour operators from international markets such as the United States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Armenia, Norway, Sweden, Japan, Australia, Brazil, and South Africa. Journalists and communicators specializing in gastronomy and travel from the United States, Norway, Germany, Poland, and the United Kingdom will also participate.
Participants will have the opportunity to experience firsthand the region's tourist and gastronomic offerings, connect with local producers and businesses, and discover experiences that blend gastronomy, heritage, landscape, and local culture. This professional presence is crucial for establishing commercial relationships and introducing the destination to new audiences.
The program will primarily take place at the Sol Port Cambrils hotel and will address key challenges and trends in food tourism, including sustainability, innovation, new technologies, and artificial intelligence. The opening day will feature a presentation of Cambrils as a gastronomic destination, highlighting its maritime tradition, local products, and culinary offerings.
The experiential aspect of the program will allow attendees to explore the local gastronomic culture through activities focused on Mediterranean vermouth, fishing traditions, romesco sauce, extra virgin olive oil production, and seafood. Visits are planned to locations such as the Fishermen's Guild, the Agricultural Cooperative of Cambrils, Parc Samà, and the port of Cambrils.
On November 11, a B2B professional meeting will be held to facilitate business meetings between international tour operators specializing in food tourism and local companies offering gastronomy and wine-related experiences, fostering new commercial avenues and collaborations.
Patricia de Miguel, Councilor for Tourism and Economic Promotion of Cambrils, emphasized that the conference is an "extraordinary opportunity to showcase Cambrils to professionals who directly influence the selection and marketing of gastronomic destinations worldwide".
De Miguel added, "Gastronomy is one of our key differentiating values and has the capacity to generate reasons for visiting us throughout the year." She concluded by stating the aim is for participants to "discover that Cambrils offers much more than excellent dining: behind our cuisine lies a maritime tradition, producers, a territory, and an identity that we want to preserve and share with the world".
The organization of IFOODTC is a collaborative effort between the Municipal Tourism Board of Cambrils, the Costa Daurada Tourism Board, and the congress organizers, aiming to enhance the visibility of the region's gastronomic offerings.
