The 51st Cambrils International Music Festival experienced one of its most anticipated nights with the performance by British band Jethro Tull at the Parc del Pinaret. The event drew nearly 1,500 attendees, marking the group's only stop in Catalonia during their tour for their latest album, Curious Ruminant (2025).
Before the main concert, the village area featured performances by Jordi Àlvarez leading Mo'jo Hand and the Clownic. The gastronomic space also served as a gathering point for the audience.
Jethro Tull opened the recital with "The Secret Language of Birds", blending tracks from their new work with classics such as "Thick as a Brick", "Songs from the Wood", and "Aqualung". The band also paid tribute to Johann Sebastian Bach with an adaptation of "Bourrée in E minor", one of their musical influences. The concert concluded with an encore of "Locomotive Breath".
Ian Anderson, the 78-year-old frontman, showcased his characteristic stage presence and mastery of the flute, hallmarks of his status in progressive rock. The band was accompanied by keyboardist John O'Hara, bassist David Goodier, drummer Scott Hammond, and guitarist Jack Clark.
The festival will continue on Wednesday with a performance by Siloé at the Parc del Pinaret, which has been sold out for weeks.
