The Chapel of Our Lady of Mercy, situated in Reus, has its documented origins in the year 1845, although its antiquity is considerably greater. During the 1930s, the chapel was on the verge of disappearing, narrowly escaping destruction due to its state of neglect and being partially hidden behind a gate. This situation persisted until the adjacent building was demolished, at which point the small chapel was recovered during the construction of the new house.
Currently, the Misericordias Group and the residents of the El Carme neighborhood keep the tradition alive with offerings and special activities coinciding with the Misericordia festivities. The commemorative plaque installed at the chapel is a work by the renowned Reus ceramist Neus Segrià.
