From September 16th to 22nd, the municipality of Mont-roig del Camp will participate in the European Mobility Week with various awareness-raising activities. The main initiative is the free municipal bus service throughout the campaign.
The aim of this measure is to make public transport more accessible to citizens and encourage those who regularly use private vehicles to try more environmentally friendly alternatives for their daily commutes. The City Council wishes to convey the message that "it is a week to try, change habits, and discover that often we can get around in a different way".
The free municipal bus service aims not only to encourage its use during the campaign but also to highlight its benefits so that more citizens incorporate it into their regular commutes after the European Mobility Week concludes.
Beyond the bus, the council encourages residents to choose alternatives to private cars, such as walking or cycling. These options help reduce the environmental impact and contribute to building a healthier and more sustainable municipality.
The campaign also includes municipal workers, who are invited to join the challenge of leaving their cars at home during this week and using active or public transport to get to work.
European Mobility Week provides an opportunity to reflect on the impact of daily mobility decisions on the environment, promoting reduced use of private vehicles and encouraging active travel.
