Works on Reus' Camí del Roquís, the main access road to the Agro-Reus industrial estate, remain stalled despite the road surface and pavement being finished, causing frustration for the development company.

The construction on Reus' Camí del Roquís has become a lengthy and complex process. The road, which serves as the primary access to the Agro-Reus industrial estate, remains closed to traffic even though the road surface is asphalted and the pavement is completed. After two years of work, the project's final hurdle is the completion of the electrical connection.
Sources from Preciber, the development company, argue that the road is already suitable for traffic and are requesting a provisional opening while pending permits are processed. In contrast, Endesa states they cannot intervene until the developer has finished the urban planning tasks. The Reus City Council is avoiding setting specific deadlines, assuring that efforts are being made for the project's completion "as soon as possible".
The disagreement stems from the fact that, despite the road being passable, the work has not yet been officially received by the Administration. Indústries Preciber notes a cooperative attitude from the council but has not yet received a definitive response. The metallurgical company points out that, technically, the road could be opened and proposes a solution similar to that of Recasens i Mercadé street, where traffic remains open while work continues on one of the sidewalks.
These works are part of the Pla Parcial del sector C-6, an area of approximately 60,000 square meters initiated and entirely financed by Preciber. The urbanization of Camí del Roquís was one of the conditions the company had to meet to expand its plant, being the only one currently established in the sector.
Construction began in June 2024 and was halted for fourteen months due to issues with the undergrounding of the medium-voltage power line. After resuming in November last year, it is still not finished.
Endesa, for its part, emphasizes that its intervention depends on the developer, who still needs to provide final project documentation and sign cession agreements. The company has not specified the time required for this phase.
The opening of Camí del Roquís would allow the recovery of a key shortcut between the Riudoms road and the Agro-Reus industrial estate, saving workers the need to enter the city. The project includes a 20-meter wide road with a carriageway, sidewalks, green areas, and public lighting.
