Driver critically injured in multiple collision on AP-7 in Vandellòs dies

The victim, a 36-year-old woman residing in Amposta, raises the number of fatalities on Catalan roads this year to 140.

The driver critically injured in the multiple vehicle accident on the AP-7 in Vandellòs i l'Hospitalet de l'Infant on Wednesday evening has died at Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona.

The incident, which occurred at 8:25 PM (20:25 hores) at kilometer point 279 southbound, involved up to eight vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, and a truck. The deceased was a 36-year-old woman and a resident of Amposta.
This fatality brings the total number of people who have lost their lives on Catalan roads during 2025 to 140, according to data from the Servei Català de Trànsit (Catalan Traffic Service).

The accident involved up to eight vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, and a truck, forcing the closure of the motorway southbound for a period.

The accident initially left ten people injured, two of whom were in critical condition and one in serious condition. The remaining injured individuals were discharged in situ after being treated by the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM).
Units of the Mossos d'Esquadra and the SEM were dispatched to the scene. The most severely injured were transferred to Joan XXIII Hospital in Tarragona. Due to the severity of the crash, the motorway had to be closed southbound, with mandatory diversions via the A-7 near Cambrils.
