The Vandellòs i l'Hospitalet de l'Infant Town Council has commenced works to renew the artificial turf of the l'Arenal football field, a necessary action after 16 years of intensive use.

The renovation addresses the deterioration of the current turf, which has exceeded its lifespan and shows widespread wear, infill compaction, and fiber damage. This intervention will improve sports practice conditions, enhance user safety, and bring the pitch up to current technical standards.
The Councilor for Sports, Yolanda Marqués, highlighted the necessity of this renovation to have a pitch in better condition. She added that efforts have been made to minimize the impact of the works on club activities, preparing the Escola Mestral field for training sessions to continue.
To ensure sports continuity, the Escola Mestral field has been adapted and will host the training sessions for the clubs that regularly use the l'Arenal field. These works included laying sand, painting, replacing a gate, and installing grilles, with an approximate investment of 8,500 euros.
The council also thanks the Mont-roig del Camp Town Council for its collaboration, having lent the Miami Platja football field for the training of two amateur men's teams competing in the third Catalan division.
The turf renovation works, awarded to the company Obras y Pavimentos Especiales SA for 207,515 euros and a one-month execution period, include the removal of the current turf, base inspection, and installation of a new sports surface measuring approximately 108.5 by 64 meters.
The project includes reusing part of the removed turf for the areas behind the goals, incorporating efficiency criteria in resource use. The contract also covers annual maintenance of the new turf for four years.
Through this initiative, the Town Council continues to improve and update its municipal sports facilities.
