The debate cycle has allowed for the recovery of the history and experiences of the segregation process, listening to different voices, and reflecting on the beginnings and evolution of Deltebre as a municipality. The celebration of the municipality's 50th anniversary, which will take place next May 2027, has begun with this initiative.
The sessions have offered diverse perspectives: the first brought together witnesses of the segregation process, the second gave voice to local writers on the municipality's history and identity, and the last included representatives from various municipal corporations. The contributions will serve to enrich future commemoration activities.
The Mayor of Deltebre, Lluís Soler, highlighted that the 50th anniversary should be a tribute to the past and an opportunity to strengthen the town's pride and reflect on the future. Soler emphasized that the sessions have allowed for the engagement of different generations and the collection of ideas to continue building the commemoration.
Following the conclusion of these sessions, the 50th-anniversary program continues with new initiatives. Last week, the first chapter of the Deltebre 50th Anniversary Podcast was recorded, and during October, an itinerant exhibition will begin in educational centers.
In November, the 50th Anniversary Forest will be planted with 50 trees, involving the 1977 cohort. The commemoration will gain more prominence next year with a tribute to the Segregation Board and municipal corporations, as well as an exhibition on Deltebre's 50 years, curated by Marc Navarro and Elena Fabra, the commissioner for the 50th anniversary.
