Aldover will host the first edition of the Riuviu festival from June 19 to 21, a new cultural and gastronomic proposal featuring around thirty activities at the Platja Fluvial and Bosc de Ribera.
Driven by the Cultura Iau! association, the festival will integrate theater, circus, dance, music, and artistic installations. The program is designed to attract both family and young audiences, aiming to invigorate the cultural fabric of the Terres de l'Ebre and highlight the role of rural areas as spaces for artistic creation.
Beyond the three-day celebration, Riuviu will also develop educational activities throughout the school year through the Llavors project. This initiative seeks to foster culture and support the rural school in the municipality, with the backing of the Culture and Education Program of the Department of Culture and Education and Vocational Training and the Ministry of Culture.
“
"It is born with the will to activate, connect, and make the cultural life of the Terres de l'Ebre flow; to make culture a driving force for gathering and to make the territory more alive than ever; and, for rurality to be at the center of creation to claim that we are not peripheral."
The same representative emphasized the festival's connection to the municipality and the Ebro landscape, explaining that the name Riuviu synthesizes this essence: “Riu (River) is landscape, roots, community, identity. Viu (Alive) is movement, active culture, emotion, and participation.”
“
"We want our territory to be a driver of innovation; cultural quality is not exclusive to cities. Aldover demonstrates that the rural world is a top-level creative space."
The festival receives support from the Diputació de Tarragona and the Institut per al Desenvolupament de les Comarques de les Terres de l’Ebre (IDECE). A deputy highlighted the importance of such events in rural settings for strengthening the country, while the director of IDECE underscored the project's contribution to promoting the territory and gastronomy, with the Ebro River as its central focus.
Among the entities supporting the new Riuviu festival are the Aldover City Council, the Generalitat de Catalunya, IDECE, the Diputació de Tarragona, the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, the Consell Comarcal del Baix Ebre, the Biosphere Reserve, and Festivals Terres de l’Ebre.
