The GEPEC-EdC organization has initiated actions to halt the biogas plant project, currently in the administrative processing phase, by submitting formal objections to the Special Urban Plan (PEU). The entity has met with elected officials, municipal political groups, and residents of Campredó and l'Aldea to present their arguments.
The project is not suitable for the territory nor is it environmentally justified, as the area is classified as territorial protection land of agricultural and landscape interest.
According to the Partial Territorial Plan of the Terres de l'Ebre, the area intended for the PEU is classified as territorial protection land of agricultural and landscape interest. For this reason, GEPEC-EdC argues that the zone should remain free of infrastructure and undeveloped, respecting the environmental and agricultural values of the plot.
The environmentalists also criticize the allocation of Next Generation funds from the European Union to this project. They urge the Ebro Urbanism Commission to carefully analyze the claims received before approving the installation.
