The municipal free childcare service 'Temps per a Tu' in Tortosa has changed its location. Starting next Tuesday, September 8th, the service will be offered from the facilities of the El Temple school institute, with access via Ferran d’Aragó avenue. This new venue offers improved conditions for the service, which was previously located at the cultural center of the former SAMAR-SAMO factory in the Ferreries neighborhood, since February 2023.
This service is designed to help families balance their work, personal, and family lives, providing care for children aged between 3 and 16 years. Services will be offered daily in Tortosa, and on Saturday mornings, it will extend to the towns of Jesús, Campredó, Bítem, els Reguers, and Vinallop. Last year, the service assisted 903 children for a total of 1,281 hours.
The initiative, managed by the Fundació Pere Tarrés and funded by the Department of Equality and Feminism as part of the Ministry of Equality's Corresponsables Plan, includes activities such as storytelling, crafts, workshops, and celebrations, as well as free play. Training sessions are also organized to promote men's shared responsibility in caregiving tasks.
The usual hours for 'Temps per a Tu' will be Monday to Friday from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM in Tortosa. On Saturdays, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the service will be available in Tortosa and the aforementioned towns. During the school holidays of Christmas and Easter, the morning schedule (10:00 AM - 1:00 PM) will also apply in Tortosa, as well as on non-teaching days.
