The change in government structure follows the previously established governing agreement. Former mayor Jordi Jordan now assumes the role of First Deputy Mayor, managing key portfolios such as Urban Planning, Public Works, Culture, Festivals and Renaissance, and Sports. This extensive responsibility also includes the councilorship for the Remolins neighborhood.
The new Catalan Language department will be led by Pilar Caballé, who also retains Economic Promotion and takes over Democratic Memory, previously managed by Mayor Lleixà. Another portfolio previously held by the Mayor, Equality and Feminisms, is transferred to councilor Dolors Bel, who maintains Social Rights.
“"We want Catalan to be the language of welcome and integration when someone arrives in Tortosa."
The remaining council members maintain their management areas, with minor adjustments. According to Mar Lleixà, the governing team faces the final stretch of the mandate "with energy and priorities," aiming to approve the 2026 budget in the coming weeks. This reorganization follows the City Council's unanimous adherence to the National Pact for the Language, a commitment to be formalized with the visit of the Minister of Linguistic Policy, Francesc Xavier Vila, this Wednesday.
