This initiative will emerge from the Municipal Civil Protection Commission and seeks to address the access difficulties presented by certain sections of the coastal path, particularly during summer months due to high visitor numbers.
The Councilor for Governance and Emergency and Security Services, Xavier de la Fuente, explained that the future protocol involves defining and numbering the various entry points to the GR-92. This information, along with detailed maps, will be provided to the emergency number 112.
The goal is for bodies such as the Fire Department, Mossos d’Esquadra, SEM, SUM, Local Police, or Maritime Rescue to quickly identify the most efficient access route to any incident location.
As an example of the need for this coordination, the councilor recalled a landslide at La Llenya beach caused by recent storms. On that occasion, Civil Protection volunteers and members of the Centre Excursionista marked the area and informed the Coastal authorities about the situation.
“"Always call 112, indicate the location and terrain characteristics with maximum precision, and do not attempt a rescue without prior notification."
For minor incidents, such as a fallen tree obstructing the path, direct contact can be made with the Local Police.
De la Fuente also urged users of the GR-92 to act responsibly, reminding them that it is not a simple stroll. He recommends wearing appropriate footwear, staying hydrated, and being aware of the slopes and potential fall risks.
