The municipality of L'Ampolla hosted the traditional Rice Harvesting Festival on Sunday morning at its fishing port. This celebration aims to revive and showcase traditional farming tasks, such as threshing, winnowing, and bagging, highlighting the culture and traditions linked to rice cultivation.
The event featured performances by Guardet lo Cantador and the Rondalla Suc d’Anguila, who enlivened the day with traditional Delta folk music. Attendees also enjoyed a rice tasting, sampling various preparations of the region's star product.
This festival complements the Rice Gastronomy Days, which will run until October 11th in L'Ampolla, offering an opportunity to taste different ways of preparing this staple food of the Delta.
In the near future, other municipalities such as L'Aldea (September 27th) and Amposta (October 4th) will also hold similar events related to the rice harvest.
