The Biosfera Terres de l’Ebre Truck Park, a service and alternative energy complex for transport promoted by the company Multigrupo in L'Ampolla, has overcome a key hurdle. After years of delays, the project has received a favorable report from the Directorate General for Traffic (DGT), an essential step for its viability and processing before the Terres de l’Ebre Urban Planning Commission. This initiative represents an estimated investment of 25 million euros and is expected to generate over 30 direct jobs and nearly 50 indirect ones.
According to the PSC of L'Ampolla, this progress is the result of municipal work and efforts to obtain approval from Carreteras. The processing of urban planning modifications and several meetings with DGT officials have been crucial. Recently, a meeting was held at the Department of Business and Labour with Minister Miquel Sàmper and Secretary of Business and Competitiveness Jaume Baró, attended by socialist representatives from L'Ampolla and Multigrupo CEO Xavi Pino.
The Biosfera Terres de l’Ebre Truck Park is conceived as a multi-service hub for transporters, travelers, and tourists, aiming to be a benchmark on the Mediterranean corridor. It will include a refueling station with sustainable energy sources such as biogas, natural gas, and rapid electric charging, with hydrogen as a future prospect. It will also offer secure, monitored parking for heavy vehicles and a rest area. The project emphasizes energy self-sufficiency through renewable sources and integration with the natural environment.
Multigrupo's projections indicate that the complex's launch could reduce CO₂ emissions from freight transport in the area by 30%, saving approximately 2,000 tons of polluting gases annually compared to a model solely reliant on fossil fuels. In addition to job creation, the increase in clean energy vehicle traffic is expected to boost local commerce and services.
Multigrupo Stag, headquartered in L'Ampolla with nearly 25 years of experience in distributing and installing ecological Autogas systems (LPG, Dual Fuel, CNG, LNG, biomethane, and BioLPG), views this Truck Park as a natural progression. The company, which already converts vehicles to run on cleaner energies, will now build the necessary infrastructure to service them.
The meeting at the Department concluded with positive assessments, highlighting the project's potential to generate employment and promote cleaner, more sustainable mobility. L'Ampolla's deputy mayor, Sebastià Castañeda, emphasized the importance of consistent work to unblock projects like this, which position the municipality and create opportunities.
