Heritage elements like the underground galleries of the Suda Castle, the new walkways along the walls, and the old Balneari d’en Porcar in Remolins have been incorporated as new venues for the Tortosa Renaissance Festival, achieving notable public success.
The Historical-Artistic Journeys through Tortosa's Renaissance heritage have sold out all tickets. The tour of the Suda's underground galleries has generated particular interest, allowing a rediscovery of these dark and mysterious spaces, closed for years due to disrepair. State-funded works with European funds have consolidated and adapted these galleries, including a large wooden walkway over a fortified well that connected to the Ebro river. The theatre company Los Navegantes offers a historical reenactment of the fortress.
The company l'Atípica, with the story 'La insòlita mort de Tubalina', has also enabled the discovery of the castle's wall restoration, now accessible via new walkways. These routes, offering unprecedented views of the historic city, have been freely available from the Poterna del General Ortega to the main entrance of the Parador.
Other emblematic sites such as the Reials Col·legis, the former church of Sant Domènec, and the cathedral of Santa Maria have also been visitable within these journeys.
The old Balneari d'en Porcar, in the Remolins neighborhood, near the Jewish quarter and the Prince's Gardens, has hosted performances like 'Ignis Chorum' by Aestus Show Produccions and ‘Lo drac del Balneari d’en Porcar’. This site features a pointed arch pavilion rehabilitated by the Tortosa City Council, intended to be part of the future Baix Ebre Regional Historical Archive.
As novelties, the Gastronomic Renaissance has offered period cooking demonstrations in the market square, and a videomapping projection on the restored wall has been added, complementing the existing one on the cathedral facade.
These new venues are in addition to the usual ones, such as the Rastre neighborhood, the squares of the Absis, the Cathedral, or Dolors, as well as consolidated offerings like 'Taverna di Enrico' by Quico el Célio, performances by the Abanderats, and numerous musicians and comedians.
This Sunday's final day has been influenced by the World Cup final. The parade has been moved forward to 6:00 PM, and the match will be broadcast in the Market Square. The final show ‘Les Arts, la Llum del Renaixement’ will take place at 11:40 PM in the Absis Square, followed by fireworks at midnight.
