The festival, which blends top international acts with innovative local proposals, will also highlight the gastronomy and restaurant scene of the Baix Ebre capital. The inaugural concert, at Plaça de l'Absis, will bring together the Cor Flumine and the Tortosa Big Band under the direction of Ramon Escalé, in a production specially created for the event.
On July 1, it will be the turn of Dominic Miller, known for his collaboration with Sting for over three decades and co-writer of songs like Shape of my heart. Later, on July 7, Cuban pianist Alfredo Rodríguez, discovered by Quincy Jones and a Grammy nominee, will present his latest work, Take Cover!, reinterpreting iconic songs with Cuban and Latin rhythms.
On July 9, the show Dona i Essència Terres de l’Ebre will officially premiere in Tortosa with free admission. Driven by local artist Anna Amaré, this musical and scenic production explores great female voices from different eras and geographies, with arrangements by Miguel Ángel Zaragozà and artistic direction by Toni Vives Ribó.
On July 10, Kenny Garrett and Sounds From The Ancestors will perform. Garrett, winner of the 2010 Grammy for Best Instrumental Jazz Album, has collaborated with figures such as Miles Davis, Art Blakey, and the Duke Ellington Orchestra.
The Festival will conclude on July 11 at Parc Teodor González with a double free-access concert. The Escarteen Sisters, a duo of voices, cello, and viola, will offer a repertoire including arrangements by Manuel de Falla and Pau Casals, whose 150th birth anniversary is celebrated this year. The night will end with Dina Arriaza and the Eternal Amy Band, paying tribute to Amy Winehouse.
Additionally, two family-friendly and free-admission events are scheduled: La Colla Pirata by Pepet i Marieta on July 3 and Lali Begood on July 9, both at Parc Teodor González.
Regarding the gastronomic offerings, participating restaurants will serve 'Cajun'-inspired dishes, prepared with local produce from the Delta de l'Ebre. Bars and restaurants in Tortosa will host around thirty jazz concerts by groups and soloists from across Catalonia, selected through an open call. Chef and communicator Gessamí Caramés will act as ambassador for the gastronomic events.
