The Tortosa City Council has launched a Christmas tree collection campaign, for both natural and artificial trees, from January 7 to 15 to promote recycling and prevent illegal dumping on public roads.

The initiative allows citizens to deposit the trees at four strategic points in the city: Plaça Barcelona, Plaça Mestre Monclús (in the Ferreries neighborhood), Passeig Jaume I (in Temple), and Plaça Immaculada (in Remolins).
The municipal brigade service will be responsible for transporting all specimens to the recycling center for appropriate treatment. Natural trees will be, if possible, replanted or converted into compost, contributing to more sustainable resource management.

"The campaign seeks to raise awareness about the need to correctly manage waste and maintain public spaces in good condition."

The Councillor for Municipal Services, Marga Abelló, stressed that citizen involvement is crucial and emphasized that Christmas trees should never be thrown into regular garbage containers, as they require specialized treatment.
