44 Firefighter Interventions in Baix Empordà During Sant Joan Eve

The Generalitat Firefighters recorded 44 operations in Baix Empordà between Monday evening and Tuesday morning, primarily for urban and vegetation fires, with no major consequences.

The Sant Joan eve mobilized the Generalitat Firefighters in the Baix Empordà region, where they conducted a total of 44 operations between 8 PM on Monday and 8 AM on Tuesday. The majority of these calls were related to urban fires, with a notable number of dumpster fires, during a night characterized by high temperatures and elevated fire risk.
Data provided by emergency services indicates that crews also responded to 12 vegetation fires in the county. The Baix Empordà ranked among the Girona counties with the most activity related to these types of fires during the Sant Joan celebration.
In addition to vegetation fires, the night saw several responses for fires in dwellings and a vehicle fire in Sant Feliu de Guíxols. Despite the number of incidents, they did not result in major damage, and emergency services were able to control them swiftly.
Regarding mobility, firefighters also attended to four traffic accidents in the county throughout the Sant Joan night.
The Local Police of Castell d'Aro, Platja d'Aro i s'Agaró positively assessed the Sant Joan eve, highlighting the absence of serious incidents. Nevertheless, some minor scuffles were managed, and approximately forty fines were issued for violations of the civic ordinance. In a traffic control conducted early in the morning, seven drivers were fined, six for positive alcohol tests and one for drug consumption.
Across Catalonia, the Sant Joan eve generated a total of 1,407 calls to the Generalitat Firefighters, a figure higher than last year, marked by intense heat and an increase in services related to vegetation fires and incidents stemming from the use of fireworks and bonfires.
