The operations focus on cleaning and clearing forest strips along the main access routes to these natural areas. Work is being carried out on the road connecting the Sant Joan petrol station with La Fosca, as well as on the access paths to Castell from the King's campsite and from the bridge over the Castell stream.
Forestry teams are working on the sides of the paths, covering a strip of approximately ten meters on each side. Access points are also being improved to facilitate the passage of emergency vehicles, a key measure to ensure a faster response in case of fire.
Clearing the undergrowth aims to reduce the amount of dry vegetation and fuel, thereby decreasing the risk of rapid fire spread in these forest areas.
The Palamós City Council plans to expand these preventive tasks in the coming weeks. New interventions will focus on forest areas in the Es Pla and El Figuerar neighborhoods, as well as on Puig Cargol and the surroundings of the Castell plain parking area.
Through these actions, the municipality of Palamós continues to strengthen the preventive management of its forests, preparing for the months with the highest fire risk.
