The citizen platform 'Prou excuses. Carreteres segures al Baix Ter' (No more excuses. Safe roads in Baix Ter) has called on political parties to ensure the comprehensive improvement of all communication routes in the region. The entity points out that the currently budgeted investment, focused on the GI-633 and GI-634 between Colomers and Verges, as well as the adaptation of the C-31 through Ullà and Torroella de Montgrí, is insufficient to meet real needs.
The association demands that, before the final approval of the accounts, the remaining affected roads and the necessary funds, estimated at around 50 million euros, be included. This figure aligns with the commitment made by the Government last January with the local mayors, as they recall. In fact, 21 town councils in the region have already passed motions supporting this demand.
In a statement, the entity laments that the investment planned in the current budgets is only 16.5 million euros, a sum far from the initial 50 million. This has resulted in some roads considered essential for Baix Ter being left out of the improvement plans.
The platform explicitly requests that parliamentary groups submit amendments to include the GI-643, GI-642, GI-641, and the section of the C-31 between Ullà and Verges, specifying the amount and execution timeline. They emphasize that there is still time to do so, although the deadline is approaching.
They also address the Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque, to indicate that the budgeted investment, which includes the C-31 between Ullà and Torroella, is not enough. The entity recalls that these works are urgent and that accidents in the area are constant, highlighting the need for immediate action.
The main demands include ensuring minimum safety conditions, such as lanes of 3.5 meters and shoulders of 1 to 1.5 meters, in accordance with current regulations.
Finally, the platform highlights the widespread consensus in the territory regarding this collective demand. They warn that if the commitments are not met, the disappointment will not be solely for the platform, but for the entire Baix Ter, its residents, and the 21 municipal councils that have supported this claim.
