“"Every year we are surprised by the Oncotrail's mobilization capacity, but reaching this participation figure and exceeding 475,000 euros raised before the race begins is particularly significant. Behind each team are many people who have dedicated time and effort to gather donations and who will embark on the same challenge this Saturday."

The 13th edition of the Oncotrail, taking place this weekend of October 3rd and 4th in Palafrugell, will break participation records with 394 teams and 3,483 runners, and has already exceeded 475,000 euros in funds raised.
The Oncotrail reaches its thirteenth edition, solidifying its position as a benchmark sporting and solidarity event. This weekend, Palafrugell will be the setting where 394 teams, comprising 3,483 participants, will start the 100-kilometer course. This figure represents the highest number of teams in the history of the race, organized by the Fundació Oncolliga Girona in collaboration with the Agrupació Excursionista and the Club Atlètic de Palafrugell.
Just days before the event, the funds raised already exceed 475,000 euros, an amount expected to grow with subsequent donations. With this year's funds, the Oncotrail will accumulate nearly 3.7 million euros since its inception in 2013, dedicated to the fight against cancer.
Demand to participate has surpassed the event's capacity, with 500 team pre-registrations for the 400 available spots, limited due to logistical and safety reasons. The race covers 100 kilometers through the Baix Empordà, the Costa Brava, and the Gavarres, with funds allocated to support cancer patients and their families, as well as research initiatives.
The event will commence at 8:15 AM at the Plaça de Can Mario in Palafrugell, with the joint start for all 394 teams at 9:00 AM. The race, with a 30-hour limit, will involve approximately 500 volunteers and will be coordinated by security forces, health services, and local entities.
